O is for Out of time

Seriously. I feel like as a mom with small kids that I spend my whole life taking care of one kids need and then next kids needs and then my husbands needs….I struggle with feeling like I’m all out of time for myself. Does anyone else feel that way? Well your not alone…I’m right there with ya sister…I as a mom I want to provide everything for my kids and my husband….I want them to have all their needs met. But getting from one meal to the next I don’t feel like I get to think…I feel like for me I’m completely out of time…so I’ve tried to find some time for me in all the craziness that I call my life…

usually I make sure to take some time for myself when my boys are napping and currently my 3 year old taking a nap is a hit or miss but none the less I still try and read a book or watch a little tv or take a nap myself.

I also take a hot bath sometimes after my kids go to bed to just be alone…because any mom knows that you don’t get to go the bathroom by yourself anymore…

And lastly on my hubby’s day off he watches the kids for the afternoon so that I can do whatever I would like to do (isn’t he a sweetheart!).

How do you give yourself a little bit of time?

F is for Family

Family is a big thing for us. We prioritize our family and we believe that our boys will reap the benefits of this later on down the road. We make a specific effort to eat meals together as a family (mainly breakfast and dinner) and also to not be on any kind of a device between the hours of 6-8pm so that we make sure we are spending quality time with our boys and each other. Marc also takes a day off a week to spend time with us. Ministry is very important to us since we are missionaries but if you don’t have a plan it can quickly take over your life and you won’t have time for your family.

Family is so important because I feel like its what we choose to make it and what our kids will base their family off of when they grow up and get married. They will either use our family life as an example to live by or as an example to avoid. My prayer is that they choose to mold their family like ours that it was a good experience and they never forget that we made them our first priority.
We also choose to view all of us together as part of the family. When we had our first son we made sure not to base our entire lives around him. This may sound a little funny but let me explain a little. We choose to have our kids as part of the family not the center of the family. If they are the center then they think the world revolves around them which we all know isn’t true. So we choose a realistic view on their life in the sense that they are part of the family unit and not the center of it.

What things do you do for your family? Do you have a “no technology” time?
